Saur is an Autobot Mini-Cassette from The Headmasters portion of the Generation One continuity family.
Oh, man, I stepped in something.

Oh, man, I stepped in something.

Saur is an Autobot Mini-Cassette, and the most powerful of the four Autobot W Cassettebots, being even stronger in the depths of the ocean. Despite this, he is peaceful and has a fondness for cute squirrels and widdle birdies.

He can combine with his partner Dial to form the humanoid robot Legout.

Note: The intention of the character's name is not particularly clear. His given Katakana name is ザウル (Zauru), which can be romanized as "Saur", "Sauru", "Zaur", or "Zauru". Overcomplicating the issue is that the Japanese have, at some point in time, switched over to using サウル (Sauru), instead of ザウル (Zauru), to represent the "saur" found in "dinosaur" and a multitude of species names. In short, nobody knows for sure whether Takara was working from a "saur = zauru" or a "saur = sauru" mentality. Just go along with the flow.

Saur is a mini-cassette that transforms into what appears to be a dark blue (nearly black) Apatosaurus. He has a good range of articulation with several points of movement at the neck and tail, as well as hip joints. Two silver guns plug into the faux cassette tape holes near his hind legs.
Saur combines with Dial to form the legs of Legout. His cannons become hip-mounted weapons in this form.
